Starting An Arcade Business

What Is Your Game Plan?

At least twice a week a get a phone call that goes like this - "Hi, my name is Bob Jones. I live in Potterville, IL. And I want to open a game room. The kids here have nothing to do except hang out uptown or in the Mall. I remember when I was a kid and we used to go to the arcade and play some video games or shoot some pool and we had a good time. There is nothing like that to do around here anymore. I have an empty building uptown that would be perfect for an arcade. Do you're games take money to play or tokens and do you give a discount if we buy ten or more machines?" The answer to both those questions is yes but he never asked the most important question which is why aren't there any more arcades uptown?

Don't get me wrong there are arcades that are doing quite well in today’s economic condition but obviously arcades have seen better days in general. It is extremely crucial that if you plan to open an arcade you create a complete business plan for your venture without taking any short cuts. Over the next few months Ii will out line how to open an arcade in a small town and take you through the process from conception to Grand Opening. this is a project that I am undertaking myself and look forward to sharing my experiences with you.
